About Dr Cheryl Remedios
Psychologist
Cheryl is a health psychologist and member of the APS. She has worked with people across the lifespan in hospital settings, the community and private practice. Cheryl seeks to help people manage distress and adaptively cope with challenging life experiences to achieve optimum well-being. She assists people with a range of issues including chronic health conditions, progressive illness, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and other mental health problems. A significant part of her work has also been providing psychological support to carers and family members who are experiencing carer stress or burnout.
Cheryl uses a holistic approach in her practice with a focus on person centred care, inclusivity and respect for diversity. She uses a range of psychological therapies including acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapies, positive psychology, narrative and grief therapies. Cheryl has worked in health research, training and consultation with fellow health professionals to promote best practices in health care.
Cheryl holds a Doctorate in Health Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree with majors in Psychology and Literature.
